Human friendly fashion: an outfit

[pinterest]

Today is Blog Action Day 2103, the day when members of the Human Friendly Fashion Bloggers network come together online to start a conversation about fashion and human rights. Human rights in fashion is important to me because I firmly believe that no person should suffer human rights abuses in order for me to wear beautiful clothing. Unfortunately the great majority of clothing in our stores is made in way that is harmful to factory and textile farm workers, in some cases there is even slavery in the supply chain. However, there are many designers doing it right by their workers, so there is no need  buy from designers or companies who aren’t.

So, to inspire your own human friendly wardrobe, I have put together my own human friendly fashion outfit.

Human Friendly Fashion

This outfit includes Fairtrade and GOTS certified organic cotton t-shirt by 3Fish, porcelain rose pedant hand made by local (Canberra-based) ceramic artist Amy Rhoades and hand stitched re-purposed vintage sari silk maxi skirt sewn and designed by me.
